The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place
State-of-the-art center offering advanced programming and services for the treatment of psychiatric illness in historic Williamsburg, VA.

The psychiatric Pavilion on the campus at Williamsburg Place is a 57-bed inpatient facility designed to meet the behavioral health needs of adults. Services are based on principles of milieu therapy which provide a safe, supportive and secure environment for individuals to return to a stable level of functioning. Each individual is assessed by a team of professionals lead by a psychiatrist to determine that they meet the medically necessary criteria for inpatient level of care. The clinical program consists of the following treatment tracks:

Older Adult Program
The older adult program is designed specifi cally for adults ages 55 and over.  Presenting symptoms may include behavioral disturbances, severe depression with suicidal thoughts, anxiety, hallucinations and delusions. Medical specialists may be consulted to manage underlying illnesses that are contributing to the behavioral, emotional and cognitive instability.  A comprehensive discharge plan is designed to ensure that each individual has the services and support to continue to live independently, return to a supportive living environment or facilitate placement in a setting that will maintain their safety and optimal level of functioning.

Acute Adult Program
The Acute program offers an intense level of care to individuals who are an immediate danger to themselves or others or experiencing severe dysfunction due to a psychiatric condition.  Treatment is client centered and designed to assist them to regain control of their behaviors through participation in individual and group therapy, therapeutic activities and psychopharmacology.  Whenever possible family and signifi cant others will be involved to ensure a safe return to the community and to establish outpatient services needed for ongoing treatment.

Military Personnel and Dependents
This program is designed to treat psychiatric conditions facing active duty service members who may be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, severe depression or other acute psychiatric problems.  At times, they may also be self-medicating with alcohol or other substances.  Services are also available to dependents who struggle to cope with issues facing family members who are currently serving or returning veterans.  Clinical staff will work closely with the service member’s referring military treatment facility to ensure treatment falls within the military counseling guidelines and protocols.
