“Changes in Leadership at The Farley Center to Impact More Lives”
1/23/18 (Williamsburg/Richmond, VA) – The impact of the national opioid epidemic is staggering, both to individuals and to society as a whole. Preliminary data compiled by The New York Times indicates that drug overdose deaths exceeded 64,000 in 2016 and continued to worsen in 2017. Drug overdoses are now the leading cause of accidental death in the US according to the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).
On Monday, February 5, Don McCourtney, PhD, CEO of The Farley Center will transition to the position of Corporate Director of Addiction Treatment Services at Diamond Healthcare Corporation (Diamond). In this newly created role, Don will be responsible for the growth of outpatient addiction treatment programs affiliated with The Farley Center and the development of this new service line to Diamond’s existing hospital partners and to other healthcare providers throughout the country.

Richard Failla, MS, an experienced freestanding hospital administrator with a background that includes addiction services, will serve as Interim CEO for The Farley Center beginning Monday, February 5.
