1/13/2020 (Richmond, VA) – According to data analyzed by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), drug related deaths are higher in the first two quarters of 2019 than in previous years. The predicted total of drug related deaths for the entire year, 1,547, would surpass all other years. To help curb the increase of addiction use and overdose, Diamond Healthcare Corporation, (Diamond) is bringing their addiction treatment experience to the Alexandria community.
Diamond has partnered with Safe Harbor Christian Counseling at 6408 Grovedale Drive, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22310, to provide intensive outpatient treatment for substance use and related disorders. The program will start accepting patients on Monday, January 13, 2019.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a six-week program for individuals with addiction issues. The four-day a week structure provides addiction education and counseling components while encouraging clients to actively apply the recovery skills to their daily lives as productive members of their community. This supportive IOP can serve in a continuum of care following a residential treatment program or as appropriate initial therapy based on criteria set by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
“With over ten years of mental health and substance abuse treatment experience, I am equipped and eager to bring a continuum of care to the Alexandria, VA area. I look forward to providing hope for positive change to individuals and their families and supporting their recovery through addiction education and counseling,”said LeeAnn Gumulauskas, LPC, Program Coordinator in Alexandria.
The IOP runs four evenings per week, from six to nine o’clock, and allows patients to continue working, maintain their current living situation, and improve their relationships, all while receiving services right in their community. The Alexandria IOP is currently accepting new patients. For those seeking additional information, please visit us at www.diamondiop.com or contact us 703-239-3737.
“These programs make an incredible difference in our communities, allowing us to serve patients and their families. We help physicians return to their practice, mothers to return to their children, and sober men and women to return to happy, healthy, and productive lives,” said Bianca Munce, LPC, MBA, NCC, CSAC, MAC, Diamond IOP Program Director. “We are committed to partnering across the state to help end the addiction crisis in Virginia and currently are operating nine treatment locations.”
