(Williamsburg, VA) – The increase in drug overdoses in Virginia prompted State Health Commissioner Marissa J. Levine to announce a public health emergency nearly 16 months ago, however the commonwealth is still struggling. To help combat the challenges posed by the opioid and prescription drug epidemic, The Farley Center, a nationally recognized addiction treatment facility in Williamsburg, Virginia, is providing adults in the Hampton Roads/Newport News communities with a new alcohol and addiction treatment option.
The Farley Center partnered with Genesis Counseling Center at 2202 Executive Drive #C in Hampton, VA to provide intensive outpatient treatment for substance use and related disorders and is scheduled to begin its operations on February 12, 2018. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a six-week program for individuals with addiction issues.
The four-day a week structure provides addiction education and counseling components while encouraging clients to actively apply the recovery skills to their daily lives as productive members of their community. This supportive IOP can serve in a continuum of care following a residential treatment program or as appropriate initial therapy based on criteria set by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
“So many people are impacted by the disease of addiction. Becoming sober and regaining life creates the way for a new beginning, that so many long for,” said Andreas Bienert, M.A., LPC, NCC, CSAC, Director of Intensive Outpatient Services in Hampton. “It is a service that is of desperate need within this community, and we are glad to be able to respond by making this program available.”
The IOP runs evenings, from six to nine o’clock, and allows patients to continue working, maintain their current living situation, and improve their relationships, all while receiving services right in their community. The Hampton Farley Center IOP is currently accepting new patients. For those seeking additional information, please visit us at www.farleycenter.com or contact us at (757) 941-6410.
This program is made possible through a collaboration with Genesis Counseling Center and is located within their offices at 2202 Executive Drive #C, Hampton, VA 23666. The Farley Center opened a similar Intensive Outpatient Program in Virginia Beach in August 2017 and to date successfully has provided treatment to 48 individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder.
“In addition to the treatment these individuals received, dozens of family members and other supporters participated in education and activities on our family nights,” said Bianca Waechter, LPC, MBA, NCC, CSAC, MAC, Director of Farley’s Intensive Outpatient Services in Virginia Beach. “The Farley IOP in Virginia Beach also has assessed and referred many individuals to more appropriate levels of care. These programs can really make a difference in our communities.”
